Apples, apples, apples...

Last weekend, I went a little fruit crazy.  There was a farmer's market in my neighborhood, and I pounced on all the fruit that they were selling...and bought way more than I actually needed.  Yep.  I bought a freaking ton of apples, pears, and peaches.  But...they're soooo yummy!

After realizing just how much fruit I purchased, I immediately started Googling some recipes that would use a lot of fruit.  I stumbled across a relatively simple recipe for apple cobbler and made it.  I fed it to my roommates and my mum.  They were my guinea pigs...but there were no complaints.  Win!

So, I decided to blog about it and share the recipe that I found via a recipe app.  And.  There are pictures.  Yay!

Apple Cobbler

4 or 5 apples (You can also combine fruit.  Don't be shy!)
1/2 cup sour cream
1 large egg
3/4 cup melted butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
Pinch of cinnamon--optional
A small bit of vanilla and rum extract--totally optional!  I love experimenting with extracts, so I always find an excuse to add at least one.

1) Preheat oven to 350.
2) Peel, core, and slice the apples into a 10-inch ceramic or glass pie plate (I used a 9x14 inch pan, but I also doubled the recipe).
3) Combine remaining ingredients.
4) Pour mixture over the apples from the center to the edges.  Try to coat everything!
5) Bake for 1 hour
6) Sprinkle the finished product with cinnamon and that's it.  Enjoy you're delicious cobbler.

I'm going to make this again, but I'm going to mix apples and peaches.  I'll let ya know how it turns out.  But you're baking it, Super-Nerd, you say, so we already know it will be amazing.  To this I say, I know, but it gives me a chance to report just how amazing it really is.
